Help save meals on wheels in 2021 - NACC Members Call of Action
Published: 6th November 2020
Councils across the UK are deciding their budgets for the next financial year, and it's vital that they choose to support older people's health and wellbeing, especially now. Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 1.3 million people over the age of 65 were malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. The pandemic made it even more difficult for many people to eat well every day not least, older and vulnerable people in our communities.
Having a resilient meals-on-wheels service locally is a vital cornerstone to tackling the issue, which is why it's vital we hold councils to account and urge them to invest in older people's health and wellbeing. The NACC have joined Charity Sustain and other charities / organisations today by sending a letter to all councilors across the UK to urge them to not only not further cut existing budgets for meals on wheels, but also consider supporting more financially and working with local charities / organisations to ensure services are retained.
