The NHS and the care sector are preparing to face the worst of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The kitchen, food production and warewashing facilities are crucial to the morale and welfare of the staff, as well as to the efficient running of these services.
Meiko UK is reassuring users of Meiko warewashing and bed pan washing equipment that emergency breakdown cover for
all Meiko machines in hospitals and care homes is available via Meiko UK Technical Services and our catering equipment distributor partners.
"The priority is to take all necessary steps to ensure the continued warewashing capability for all Meiko users in the healthcare sector at this crucial time," says Meiko UK MD Paul Anderson
"Technical support could become compromised if engineers are forced into self-isolation. Hospital Estates Departments are also under huge pressure and may welcome extra support at this crucial time.
"We must work together to ensure maintenance cover for Meiko users over the coming months.
"Even if a care home or hospital has cases of the virus, engineers will attend, as long as the site has the correct hygiene practices in place and the engineers can work in an isolated and controlled area with consideration to social distancing.
"If users of Meiko machines are unsure of the technical support options for their equipment, contact your Estates Department, catering equipment distributor or Meiko UK direct for further information and support.
"Site visits may be urgently required to assess the status of machines and establish routes to their location."
For contracted customers Meiko UK and its distributor partners aim to attend breakdown calls within 8 working hours. Dependant on location, Meiko UK can also prioritise a four-hour response.
Recent press announcements have cast uncertainty about the availability of emergency breakdown cover from third-party suppliers.
Many hospitals, care and nursing homes have Meiko dishwashing and bed pan washing equipment installed. But not all this equipment is maintained directly by Meiko UK Technical Services or Meiko-trained distributor and engineer partners; instead it may be managed in-house by Estates Departments, or other commercial kitchen equipment maintenance companies.
Continues Anderson, “I can assure operators of Meiko warewashing equipment that if your current maintenance provider is unable to support you through this terrible time, Meiko will do everything in its power to provide the emergency back-up you need.”
