The NACC supports British Food Fortnight

The National Association of Care Catering is proud to be supporting this year’s British Food Fortnight.
For many years now the Love British Food campaign has been at the forefront of promoting the best food Britain has to offer. This year, it takes place from 16th September to 1st October. By promoting traditional dishes and produce, the festival is among the biggest celebrations in the United Kingdom.
The aim of fortnight is to encourage people to seek out and celebrate British food when they are shopping or eating out and in doing so to discover the delights of the diverse and delicious food produced in Great Britain. Those of us in care settings can also join in and share the same delights with our residents. Love British Food seeks to create a vibrant domestic market for British food that gives farmers and food producers the confidence to invest and develop their businesses because they will see that there is a demand for their produce.
NACC’s National Chair, Sue Cawthray comments: “British Food Fortnight is an important event in the calendar, and it is vital that all the public sector catering associations get behind the initiative. We are so lucky to have our four seasons and all the wonderful British produce that this provides us.
“Individual care settings around the country are planning to celebrate throughout the fortnight in a number of different ways. One of the beauties of the fortnight is that we can celebrate our local farmers and producers, be that with our local fruit and vegetables or our superb regional meat, poultry and fish specialties.
“We will also be celebrating some of our finest and most popular national dishes like Roast Beef, Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, even Cullen Skink and of course our full English or even Welsh breakfast!”
