Care Catering in the South East of UK

The South East Region has such a wide and diverse geographical care home market, covering all aspects of social care, not just elderly care, but mental health; young adults & retirement villages – all of which, the South East Committee try to cater for in their three planned seminars.

With the demographic changes happening currently and the planned increase in the number of people who will be entering care, we have to remain ahead of the game with regards to the information we provide our members. This could range from nutritional guidelines; recruitment advice and case studies from care caterers who have achieved outstanding results.

Get to know the South East Committee:

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this amazing and inspirational organisation. With our combined knowledge of working in housing for older people, nutrition and hydration roles in care homes, meals on wheels and dining experience, we have seen the direct impact of good and bad nutrition, effects of cost-of-living crisis and the complexities people live with to remain independent. We want to create even more partnership working and recognising the teams and individuals who help make catering caring.

Seema Jehlwal, Elmbridge Borough Council
Chair

Seema is very passionate about services for older people and all the support that should be available for all individuals. She loves what she does and working with a dedicated team already, the NACC provides the same dedicated platform. Seema wants to be able to bring her frontline knowledge of providing services for older people to the forefront through the NACC.

Sophie Murray, Harbour Healthcare
Deputy Chair

Having been a NACC member for more than 10 years, can only extol the virtues of partnership working with suppliers and providers as the only way to keep driving forward care catering. Having owned a restaurant and led care catering in her employed role in care homes gives Sophie the perfect insight into the needs of residents, recognising how different they all are. Having previously served as National Deputy Chair of the NACC, Sophie has had the privilege of working on national groups and can bring this benefit to the NACC with knowledge and innovation. We are ultimately all one team, and she promises to serve you as members in the best way she can to make sure you all have a voice and we all work to one common goal.

Sarah Stone, Foodcare Systems Ltd
Secretary

Since joining the Foodcare team, Sarah has been dedicated to inclusive dining and dignity focused solutions for the care sector. Having seen first-hand how specialist crockery and drinking aids can make significant changes to people’s well-being, it has inspired her to become more involved with the NACC. We share a commitment to make a positive impact on individuals lives and working with the NACC, she hopes to contribute to the enhancement of care catering practices.
